today tutorial was the visual language milestone talk in this group tutorial it was with carol where went to to discuss out concept idea and the visual languages we have so far, due the fact I’m making an app I was very unsure what to take and show off as my idea isn’t very visually made from illustration or anything apps are very shapes and elements put together.
The things I took to my tutorial was my colour theme, name of brand and typefaces the wireframe of the app I plan to do but also the rough sketches, mock of the icon for my app I felt theses were the right thing to take and just talk about. Carol was really lovely to speak to about my concept she felt that concept was strong and could help people but the only issues she felt my visual language such as the icon were to period and feminine based design the issues is about more society issues in her issues, she advised me to go away and look into more women brands designs and it nice that website to see if there anything could be more contemporary design for my project, however I feel that ii have different opinion to hers about my work.
The colour theme I shown was very calming/feminine but carol pointed out the app should be allowed for anyone however I feel that the target audience are going to be female would prefer more feminine tones of colours as it represent females and they would know straigt away that the app from them, I wouldn’t expect males to want to use a mood and experiences app and female community if they can’t use birth control it just wouldn’t make sense. the other point was that carol feels that the issues shouldn’t just be a female base issues it should be a society issues while I agree its a society issues I feel just helping a small group of people first can make a change then I could help face other people issues taking such a big issues in one could be really hard to do and this could make me confused and lose track on what to do .
The app icon I shown was a mock up that I design this morning before the call based on my sketches, I personally feel the icon is simplistic and works well with my ideas but carol said that too typical and should link more to my issues but that makes me question what could I do, I think my next step is speak to peers and asking them for their view on the whole concept and colours to see what they think as this could really help me move forward as a designer.
