The theme I’m taking on for my three double spreads is distort and destroying to images in way to represent how images could look like to Susie while her not remember the experience or people in it so everything is blurry and confusing.
On my first double spread my idea was to use a full page image on the left side page and use typography on top that’s faded too, picking an image was hard to do because I felt that everything didn’t fit in my theme as much as I didn’t want anything too bright.
while looking on my camera and phone I came across an image I took in summer on the beach in St Ives, I felt this image straight away clicked in my head because in the article it talks a lot round the beach and Susie going on cruises.
here is what the image looks like without any effects on anything done to it, I know can easily edit this image into a dark, blurry image that I can use as a background image on my first double spread and it fit perfectly into my theme and have a link to the article without having too much thought it.
By just having a simple stressful moment and looking on my camera and phone I would have never thought a simple image would work straight away.
I took the image into the app I was using on my phone for the other images thats called Afterlight this app was so useful to do what I wanted, my first steps were to brightness down and add in a flitter of black and white but fade it so it wasn’t too dark, I also went on to the tool bar to blur out the image so it wasn’t 100% viewable. before leaving and saving the image I went on and adding the colour shift of blue and red I only moved the slightly so tmewave out was showing slightly.
Here is the outcome so far, I’m probably going to print out the image and burn the edges or make water marks on it however this can be done by using paint marks that I can design my iPad.
