Apart of my formative feedback awhile ago I had a lot of improvement that could of been done for my competition work also known as the Duolingo brief, when designing that project in Oct/November I was dealing with a lot burn out’s and health issues so ii wasn’t fully in the right headset for the project but I feel Bette now and I would really want to improve my work for my uni degree but also the competition to hand in as I feel my concept is very unique to others ideas.
Boarding pass ticket improvement.
One of the main outcomes for my marketing campaign was a boarding pass for app the app it was a way to promote app and link my theme of travel to the app in Covid times, this outcome was liked by my tutors was it was advised for me to be a bit more playful and like the the outcome more back to the brand so once I spoke to David my main tutor he said maybe changing the typefaces and colours more to the Duolingo brand guidelines could make it stand out more.
Below is the start of the progress, at this stage of designing I was changing to exploring adding blue into the design seeing if it would highlight different parts of the ticket design but I just felt it make the ticket design very boxy and didn’t have a purpose of what it’s highlighted so I remember from my talk with David recommend to highlight and change some text that links back the app e.g the most important pages.
a change that felt that added to the design was making moving in the plane and lines normally tickets won’t have the on the design but I just having a small visual plane could add some more play to the design.

Below is the newer improvements this were I went on to change the name of the tickets from Duolingo airline to just Duolingo in it’s typeface logo just to link the ticket back to more of the brand, I feel removing and changing the typeface really helps make the ticket stand out a bit more and connect back to the brand especially now that I change the tone of the green to fit with the the brands green, with the exploring of using the blue on the text I feel having too much of the blue makes the design seem a bit messy so I went away to cut it down and only highlight the end location to DUolingo app this really helped make the design stand out. To make the design more playful I went on to add the duo character into the design so fit gives the design a bit more character instead of a just typical travel pass, I had a little duo owl onto the plane as a little joke for users to look at at hopefully giggle at, this was just to make the audience experience with the design more playful and happy as nothing worse then a boring outcome.
The final look of the boarding pass-
comparing my design from the previous final design to this final outcome that I will be handing in I feel that the colour scheme being changed to the duolingo brand colours and the duo owl really helps making the the ticket more playful and unique design compared to a real life boarding bass, by removing the blue boxes and making it green helps tone done the boarding pass timing and seat numbers. To improve the ticket anymore I would probably highlight some more text or try and cut down the length on text on the break off part of the ticket as it could be seen as overcrowded but I do think the ticket really work well with the colours tougher and simplistic of the design.

Ticket – promotion of what the app with benefit the users
Another promotion print outcome that I designed in the previous months was the ticket design this was a bit different to the boarding pass as this ticket was to promote the app but also give a small insight of the benefits a user would get but I designed it like they were going on a day trip and what to expect, when I first designed the ticket I wasn’t that proud of my design I just felt it was very basic and the colours would do but once I had handed in I Knew the colour and design was something I wanted to explore more and change ( I was going to get rid of this outcome however David my tutor felt it worked well)
The start of changing was moving the the ticket around a bit more I felt the moving of the the work better however I just still didn’t think the outcome was work in my favour and something else needed to be done, due to change my boarding pass and my other outcomes to fit more with the brand guidelines I felt this outcome didn’t so I went on to remove the blue just to see what would happened, this was probably the best decision I made on this outcome the green gave the ticket more white space and it helped make the design feel more freely and connect with the brand.

Poster designs
One of my improvements that I wanted to do when I got my formative feedback was designing more marketing outcome due to my audience being young and always socialising in public places I felt one of the typical ways to market to people is print outcomes of posters I felt theses outcomes would work really well so once I spoke to my tutor about this ii went straight to designing theses posters. Due to most of my work already been designed and shaped up I just had to use the owl from the brand guidelines and colours and shapes to change and move to make some designs.
When I started to design my posters I didn’t really have a plan it just start with one of the owl with an expression and build on top of that and come up with something from there, once I got the basic it was easy to build and move the layout around, below are the ideas of the posters.
The changes that the posters went through changing the amount of text and changing the colours around the layout, The main visual of the posters is using the duo owl as straight away when someone walks past the poster they know what the poster relates to, each poster gives a travelling theme from travelling to different landmarks to flying to traveling on a train, I really think all theses outcomes work well and the colours form the brand are used and the posters are playful but very minimal on the amount of texted used.
