when designing my duolingo outcomes in November I was personally struggling with some issues so I know that moo utucoems didn’t have as much effort put into them so it meant once feedback was given back I wanted to use full advantage of to improve my design as I would want to hand in them.
Apart of my feedback was talking about including another outcome such a stamp or sticker just to add on while speaking a peer I discussed about designing a poster but she said it felt like I was only trying to add something else in just to fill up my idea when really the outcomes already I had were good just needed to be improve a bit more. thinking a bit more and discussing I did say a letter stamp would be such a good idea to include in my design because my whole concept is learning a language to then open travelling opputires up for once covid over and the app being the travel of now, I came up with designing a stamp that would be given to the audience when they get all the tickets and design outcomes and the stamp can be used in real life to post a letter ( this seen as some type of travel ) while the idea of sending something somewhere is travel it could also help promote duolingo a bit more and across the world and bring in a wider aduience than just the 16-22 years old as the postage stamp would be seen on letters and post and people will look at the different design that not typically the queen on a stamp.
Designing the stamps
start off making the postage stamp I didn’t have a set design I just knew I wanted to make two postage stamps one 1st class post and one 2nd class post as theses are postage usage in the uk, when designing the stamps I started off with the simple owl on the small art board on illustrator adding in the 1st/2nd class writing in the top concern, ways I started to change the simple design was adding the different type of duo owl to the designing each stamp a bit more a different vibe by changing the owl on the different design I feel that it makes the design a bit more than just duo on a brand colour background it make the outcomes come a bit more friendlier and stand out, for the 1st class stamp I wanted to being joy it as we all dream about flying 1st class but it’s os expensive so I really wanted bring the joy of someone acting like they flying 1st class and bringing it to the stamps and using this duolingo owl it makes someone feel the joy and happiness plus the person that received the letter with the stamp on will get some happiness from the stamp being happy and positive.
The 2nd class stamp was just a stamp that was experiment playing around with different shapes trying to make a happy location, due my concept linking people to travel and learning their language to unlock a better experience while travelling one thing that will promote the app would bring a highlight to happy location, the stamps having happiness and character sunny location will make some feel joy when they get the better but get the message of 2nd class postage is slower and the travel is more slower and relaxed e.g like duolingo is on the stamp
Below is the final 3 stamps I made I was only aiming to make two stamps but the stamp the left was a rough design for a poster but I just felt that the design fitted more perfectly with the stamps so I went away to design it a postage stamp, all three stamps all have a like to the brand with the colours and world and lal bring joy and happiness just like what the users would get from the app when start to improve and have open many different travelling opportunities for themselves. While the design is only a extra add on and a simple way to market the app a bit more on a wider board I really think theses outcome work well and bring the rest of my campaign more tougher the stamps concept defiantly have the concept of travel as user will be sending them to location even if they cut travel themselves but it will market the app.

designing stickers
In my feedback I was recommend to add in some more extra outcomes that could help make the rest f my marketing work stand out the most and get users to use and promote more, to make my work more playful and can link back my theme of travel I came up with the idea od just making some simple stickers that can be placed on on luggage or in travel areas that can promote the app but bring the user some joy. Due the stickers being a small task I didn’t really plan out the outcome I just started to design them on illustrator and speaking to peers that could me think of ways to link, the design on the left was the idea of placing some of my other outcomes on and playing around with them after using another type of duo bird on the sticker this gave the design more character and play that can be spotted on different areas around the world. The second design the right idea was more about showing the amount of different lalangues that on the app and how Duo speak all them so can you, having different languages could promote the world to connect.
I really think having different looks and colours of the stickers could help draw in the young audience more espcalfiy if they placed on very simple background such as suitcases, the colours also help make the duolingo logo stand out the most really helping to promote the app but in a very friendly way that doesn’t come across to harsh. Way to improve theses designs could be adding more variety to the designing having more than two or maybe adding some details into the Duolingo logo to blend more with the stickers and the word does stand out too much but that it’s a positive to some people but for others they might to avoid it as it too brand based, maybe changing the size and placement could help delve it however think they work really well and would be enjoyed by users.
