Today was one of my last milestone tutorial call with my group on team for my final major project before formative hand in next week so I wanted to take full advantage of this call and especially when only 2 of us out the group turned up to speak to David, this allowed me to get more talking time and support of David and my peer ( Tommy).
In this call I showed my brand identity, colours and app so far and my plan so far in this time we pulled everything a part in different parts to help me improve my work and stand out in my portfolio, I found both of David and Tom feedback so useful even if they were male and didn’t know much on my topic but this helped me have a outsider view on the app as my adenine won’t always know much on the topic so it’s important to see what they think.
Brand of app feedback
The first part of feedback I got was my brand identity, both Tom and David really liked my concept and idea of the app as it could really help users understand their body but. others and its a safe place for them but they just felt that the name “Fem Match” needed to be change well the part called Fem as it could be seen as more typical word and I should think trans men as they might still want to user. female birth control even if they are on the change to male by swapping the fem word to another word that links to the app could really help develop the brand a bit more, while. speaking about the brand David recommend to me to change my typeface for the Fem part but keep the Match typeface as it works really strongly with my outcome but the fem his very feminine based and could pusher users that aren’t so feminine away and it looked very female period pads designs.
taking away from my brand part feedback I will be looking into change my name and the typeface and maybe exploring a more brighter colours as David pointed I stick with my pastel theme a bit too much and I should push myself to use other colours and not be scared, to think of another name I will be speaking to some of my peers and female friends outside of uni to get to some idea and change the name ready for hand in next week, I will have. to be very fast paced on making theses change and just go with it and not waste too much time thinking about the idea or else I could lose marks.
App feedback and support
while showing my app I didn’t really speak that highly of work and David picked up about this and told me I should speak highly about my work and the work I have done so far and shouldn’t judge myself to fast as I’m at the right stages and app is strong it just needs some changes, with my app The boys said the app works well and get enough support and guidance throughout the only thing that’s missing is a simple navigation, I did point ut that most app have one on below and I didn’t want to follow this but David recommend to me to make one as it’s the best way for a user experience to get back and forward without getting lost on the app some small changes that I could do to the app is changing my colours and turning around the petals to fall another way another. way to improve the app is to animate the prints I had for each birth control so when they click on them they move. I found having men as users and looking in my app gave me a bit more depth of who they would. think the app would work and what they think should be added.
Add on to the app and social media
while I was researching my user experience I realised the app won’t just sell it’s self it needs to be promoted to s in my tutorial I discussed this and pointed out I wanted to make a social media campaign that pop on the target audience accounts to download the app, when saying my reason about certain things such as why I designed my own patterns and women being shamed of birth control David and tom highlighted to me that I could add in humor into my social media campaign to make females feel less put off my the topic and shamed to go and download this means if something funny women would probably promote it more on their own accounts.
an add on to the app David said about is thinking how can I link my app to things that are out there already such as podcast can I add this into my app to give more support and help to my users and could it benefit the app a bit more as the podcast could bring people if they join together work with each other, a way to bring my brand stronger. was David recommend me to. make a gif for the social media or even an animation with my moving patterns this could placed online or on digital billboards to get the brand message across but get females to join and support their health, thinking about this I personally hate making gif and animation as they aren’t my biggest skill but this gives me something to improve on and push to my make final project more ambitious and improve my project to stand out.
Taking away from this call today I feel much more happier about my app and concept so far I really believe that my work is good enough and the feedback I have got today could help me improve my work and helpfully benefit my profile for the best, I’m going to go away and look into my brand a bit more and improve it and think about the boys advice and work on it.
main points for myself
- make a gif or animation ( you can do it)
- change Fem to a more better word to link to my theme
- change typeface of fem
- add a navigation to app
