In any university project it’s important to track the development of the outcomes to show how you got from A to B, even though this project is a couple of days long it’s important to show my tutors the start and process of changing elements and moving them to get a final outcomes ( an draft to show to gain feedback on)
my starting stage was adding in the main needed text on the front and back of the cover give myself a rough idea and layout of where to place everything so I could see if the text would not work with an concept, by doing this it gave me the idea that my concept of ice breaking on the cover wouldn’t work due the type being heavy and there would be enough place on the pages
the frist draft also allowed me to see if my colours choices would work with each other on top of the book cover background cover, by looking below I feel the colour choice of mine really work each well and could show the depth of my idea.

the next stage I went on to do was adding my visual of a layers of a hole in the book cover os my idea when starting this project was just about making the front cover feel that they were falling into the hole and the text was going to be around them however once I put the layer idea onto my cover I knew this wasn’t going to work that strong so I would have to change my concept a bit but I did like the look or the different layers on top or each other but the colour were just a test to see if the layers worked.

The stage I took next after changing and improving my layers on illustrator was trying to explore a layout that would work around the text on the pages as I felt that was the most important part for penguin it’s about trying to work with the text as that is a need by penguin, my first ideas about making. my layers a background design and splitting up the back page text
after having the idea of making the back page seem like in was in the centre of the depth I felt it wasn’t going the way I wanted so I removed the ideas and thought About going back to the three areas seeing. if this any more play to the design but better feeling of the issues.
while playing around with the different back page design i needed to use the text to help me see what it would l look like, instead of having my text centre like most book covers an typical designs I really wanted to explore the idea of making my text align left this was just a test at first however I started to really like the look of it.
while it hard to see the small changes a lot. of the changes I did on the front cover was play. around with the size of the typeface and where to play certain text.
above on the right you can see that an idea I went to explore was using my simple visuals and trying to make the idea of separated ice breaks I knew straight away this idea didn’t look light so I went along to remove this and explore the idea of making the spine of the book stand out more, I’m not really sure is the darker spine would do anything for the book but I feel this is important to show as an development as it was a stage I took part with.
