printed matters – case study 2

The second book that I found interesting to look at to write a case study on was this book below called This is Not A Monument Polaroid From Marrakech by the artist called Mark Beechill in 2017, this artist book is a zine that’s a mix media outcome from his photos from a travel Marrakech.

while researching this artist book online there wasn’t much that came up only the esty store online where I could one of the editions of 33 prints that had been made so far this artist book wasn’t a huge realize it seems it just a small project and Mark sold some of the book due the photos and funny remarks he makes in the type on the right side of the pages in the zines. The place that I found the most information about this the artist book was the introduction page inside the book, like that the book was a just a small project to give a sense and visual looks of the place for people to look and the reason why the Polaroid camera was used just a quick and easy way to get photos and having a real look of the location without editing it this project seems a very natural looking zine.

the Idea of the zine was very simple for example each layout of the spread were the same but they work so well as it’s not too in your face you get the photo on the left side and you don’t feel that it’s over crowned then on the right side of the spread it has the information about the place to help someone know about it, I feel if the book did have too information more or another polaroid on the other side the zine would look a bit messy but the balance works out well for this book.

the reason that made me look at this book more was the I loved the simplistic of the book with the Polaroid on one side and some text to help understand the photo it also like a travel guide, one of the other main points of the photos I like is that the photos have been scanned in to make the zine it’s mixing the real object into a digital design and the outcomes always look amazing as the texture of the polaroids look totally unique
