Apart of the outcome, brief needs were to do 3 or more case studies on research books of my choice that link to my studies or stand out to me theses artist books that I get to do case studies can be from the special library of artist books I have in my University.
the first artist book that I picked out to look at was this artist book below called As Far As The Eye Can Travel by Chiara Ambrosio the 2016 edition that was a box design artist book where each month a new small blinded photo book would be sent to the owner of the box if they kept their subscription.
Chiara Ambrosio is a filmmaker and visual artist working with many diffrent ideas from the arirtst books, animation and the list goes on, the idea behind the artist book say her website it that to design ” topographies of the soul and physical excavations, as far as the eye can – and will – travel. It is a celebration of the small and near-invisible: an archive of the incongruencies, gestures and poetic collisions that illuminate and transform our reality. It is an act of commitment to the mystery of presence, a search for continuity within the cracks and the margins.” it means that she wanted to design an outcome with the nature around and keep people still looking and wanting more to the photos as it’s a mystery of where it is and what’s going at that time.
while researching about the box, there is more then one box that an artist book collector could buy since 2016 there has been 3 diffrent books for each year since so each book include diffrent journal flip photo books with many different gorgeous photos of close up or wide shots of photos that add up in the box making the box like a memory box of places that Chiara Ambrosio has cached through the year.

I really like this idea because it’s very unique to a typical blinded book and having an artist book where people get a new addition added each month is a good idea ans it allows people to add to the collection or not add it also allows people to have freedom to move thing around not like a typical book where you just flip the page to the next one the gives so much freedom to play around.
Due to this artist book being layout and diffrent to a normal book, the inside book are small photos in flips books that include no text each photo has its own narrative but that’s up to the owner’s head to see and think of what they want, below are 2 flipbooks I looked in and compare the size, the monthly books all came in diffrent sizes and shapes depending on what the artist wanted to do the artist book had so much play while making it looks while going through the artist book/ box.
The reason why this artist book stood out to me was that the box design was very diffrent from a normal book I also loved the inside where each book was designed in diffrent shapes and sizes however they all included diffrent photos. This artist book has inspired me to look at the design of my book maybe to change my case of the book to a unique design and it catches people’s eyes more than a normal blinded hardback book.
