In the introductory lesson for printed matter, sean set a task for the following Tuesday class to make a poster with a theme that we want our artist book to be based on to create something that links to your research area so mine is graphic design, this task was to get me and my peers brains back into university studying after having a break over xmas.
while. looking at my favorite studies I have done so far in university it was app design and editorial but I knew i couldn’t make a poster on app design and artist book on app design as thats digital so it meant i had to go back and think more because I love the editorial project I went back into my research to see if there anything `i could use in this project to help me build up ideas for my artist book or this poster to start building up the ideas.
Below is a part of my editorial project last term that I loved, I pulled this out of my project because it was a mix media task I did for my editorial project I really enjoy mixing digital and handmade items together to get a unique look so `I destroyed the photos by hand and scanned them in on the computer to get them on to an editorial spread. I was going to still this on my poster design to show people and get my ideas together but I wasn’t sure if it would fit with my other idea so I kept them apart. even though this design didn’t make it to my poster design I will definitely be keeping this idea of using mix media in my work in my head for ideas as it might work very well in a theme.

the poster below is the poster I created in a couple of minutes on photoshop I know it isn’t amazing but it just a small poster that was a way to help me think of ideas, this might look rubbish to some people but it helped me realize that I want to make my project all about photography and adding color or opposite colors to picture seeing what would the outcome do the photo I also realized I wanted to try and layer text or small detail on the pages as I do enjoy adding in a small narrative or small details to my own outcomes of works.
So by my poster not being the best standard, it was very helpful to me to have this task st the start of this project because it made me think and look at some old ideas to see what I really enjoy and want to add into my own artist book for research.
