Today was the first lecture to the second term of the project called printed matter with Sean Edwards in Fine Art. I didn’t know what to expect from the class expect for exploring print in a different format then printing out for a printer for a final design this made really look forward to this project to try out new things and improve as a designer.
in the introduction lecture, Sean showed us any many artist books and explain what an artist book was this lesson was a knowledge class to show us what to expect and to help us start our own ideas by helping us see many different styles of artist book that is out there seeing if anything helps us all think of one idea.
What is an artist’s book ? An artist book is a put-together artwork of a designer of research and exploring an idea of their choice to make an outcome, an artist book doesn’t have to have a narrative a theme or have to be a book it can be whatever the designer wants to make it.
The next five weeks will be a fast couple of weeks but, I will have produced a minimum of three artist book that are handmade that is based around my subject area or something I want to explore as a designer at the end of the project I will have to present my final artist books at the Book Fayre in the heart space, the content of my book is open to me to pick and explore what I want from digital to handmade creative design the topic can be one topic or a handful, this project can be useful to me to push myself to think of ideas and explore them on my own to get an outcome.
While the class was going on this morning I straight away had some ideas jump in my head like making a book in typography format book or layering making collages with photos or just making photography book with all these ideas I want to sit down and think and see if I can mix them or make the best outcome I can think of so far.
I felt that this class confused me a bit as the books didn’t have a theme so my brain went into overthinking however by giving it time to think since being home more of what I need to do and what I should do next to get all of my ideas of before it’s too late.
