To help me get some more knowledge into the app design world then the basic knowledge I got right now from using a handful of apps, I thought it would be a good move to spend sometime to researching apps that are popular right now and see their usage, seeing if they simple designed for people to use without being too hard understand ( movement to use the app ).
Poplaur apps
to find out what is the top apps right now in this I went on to the App Store on my iPhone and went on to top free and paid apps this just to see what type of apps people are downloading the most and seeing what they do.
on the left is the top free app that are getting downloaded millions of times by people on their iPhones looking closely most of theses app are social media app or app for a lifestyle e.g facebook to connect with family and friends, youtube to watch stuff from education video to entertainment then there’s google mail for emails and MC Donalds or food, everything on the top free its too help people have a simpler life and stay in loop with people.
the top paid app was a bit of a mixture when looking the App there were things from education – driving, learning about your growing baby that comes up lifestyle then, game apps, app to help you stay productive, the paid apps certain area looks more a lifestyle area with apps for people with a lifestyle they want to keep or want information on theres not many games on the top apps in paid compared to the top free section.
From looking in the top app in both section of paid and free it seems that the top downloaded apps on a phone is things that help you stay connect or up to date with a lifestyle e.g dieting compared to games, from researching it show people care more about their lifestyle then something that takes out time.
App motion to move
to understand apps a bit more I went on to using some of my top apps on my phone such as games, social media apps to understand motions as a user have to control an app to make it perform in different ways without just clicking.
- clicking
- swiping any distractions
- pricing to zoom in
- taping
- hand motion with phone titling screen
- hand motion – shaking phone
- double taping
- scrolling
By people using their phones so much and certain popular apps like facebook, Instagram everyone brains automatically remember how to use the simple app as its basic movement with their wrist and fingers it doesn’t take long for a new person to understand the app, it seems in todays time using simple movement is a simple way too keep up to date with their life or to understand something in a click and a swipe.
looking into apps that everyone use in todays date has helped me understand why people use the apps so much, it tells me that the app is simple designed for people to use to get different elements if a app was hard to use many people wouldn’t be using it.
how to make an app ( help steps to plan )
- plan out sketch of ideas
- research
- mock up design of app
- add graphic design elements in
- add links to make app work
- upload add
- market ( promote ) app to get people to download
- ask for feedback to improve
charging people to use app
Charging people to download your app will obviously gain you money but people won’t spend money on a app that don’t know what does something and if they have reviews, putting to app up for free can work you favour because people get see you app and you can parts of the app you can money from e.g add ons , passes to use something.
its believe from research that app that are free are more successful and will gain a money income in different ways than charging people to download the app.
app usage statistics
usage of phones and app has increased through the last couple of years while the usage of laptops have decreased, a static that I found was based in 2016 that 3 years ago so it’s increased by double probably.
by a person spending a handful of hours on a app it shows the usage of app is crazy people use apps to help their lives in entrainment to planning out life stuff.
the type of apps that are getting downloaded the most are social media apps for commotion, entreatment, searching bars, shopping, travel and games .
