To help me build up my knowledge and ideas development for the next newest project of editorial I’ve gone looking for some magazine spreads to talk about that I enjoy this will help me think of a style and idea for my 3 different spreads I will be designing in the upcoming weeks.
I will be looking very close any details of layout and any graphic text based to help me gather ideas to think out of the box for when I start designing my own work because I don’t want my work to look basic in a way.
Editorial design #1 – Nitesh Real Estate Brochure
A editorial based design I found that I thought was very unique that stood out to be while searching online, was a brochure / small magazine for an estate agent called Nitesh real Estate.
the editorial design is very simple and bold in your face to catch the read, the typography on the left side of the double spread is playful but also bold to point the main of the text this is the hierarchy as they want people to see. The layout of the magazine can be seen a simple design with made 2/3 grids part on each side especially with the top numbers in the top left.
What makes the magazine unique is the right hand page its a transplant colour page with white text on as it lays on top of a picture, this can be seen as a creative element that not a of people do but it also very interesting to look at.
The colour scheme of the design is very minimal but works well all tougher as it makes the pages progressional however the colour give a pop to the page.

The magazine spread above and below is a multi design by people that been publish and placed online to show parts of the magazine that you can go and get, I picked this magazine a part of my research as really enjoyed the look of the magazine as it’s very unusual looking to typical magazine you will find in shops.
The spread is very experimental with the layering on text on photos or setting the images on the layout designs differently , the team use the grids to place all the photos and type in areas that spaced out giving areas dead spaces but this give the reader a wonder around the page to look at everything and wonder why they have done this as it has a meaning of some kind.
Editorial design #3 – fragmented – behance
The fragmented magazine I thought are so crazy and unique to look as the imagery is so bold and eye catching on each spread even if it’s not centre based, the designers didn’t really stick to the grids in away they might of used it to know where to start and end the text the is flush left and flush right on all pages it depends of the edges of the destroy photos on the page.
Theres a number of hierarchy on the pages theres one or two depends on what the author trying to show the most but however most of the hierarchy are the quotes or titles.
I really love the design of the simple colour theme as it’s minimal but also very creative with the ripped up photos and the text having some movement on the page, by the designer using the simple basic colour it draws the readers straight to the text and imagery.
I would like to experiment with this creativity in my work with the text movement and destroyed ripped photo maybe I could collage with different imagery.

One of the double spread I found when researching was created by a graduated student that did the same course as me, I found that his magazine spreads was so inspiring and sleek looking as the layout were simple in the grids used on each page it brought everything tougher.
When looking at the pages the colour theme was primary colours and worked very well as it didn’t take your eye away from the text but it does give some colour in the background with the shapes.
The typefaces that are getting used are sans serif that seen as bold simple easy looking typefaces, this font works well as its easy to see by anyone.
Editorial design #5 – black apple magazine
A magazine spread that I loved so much was this magazine called black apple magazine I just thought the whole magazine was so stylist and mazing to look at every page had a kinda different patch look to it with the design layout of text being laid out and the photos, however the theres the theme of the same colours all the way through and each page includes yellow cut up text on bottom and top of the of page .
due to the pages all having a different layout it really interest as it makes you want to carry on looking to see what will you find next on the page ,.
The designer always use different font sizes for their hireacy texts parts through the pages and even bolder fonts to draw to areas or show that they quotes or the more important text of the page it gives the direction of what to read first it’s kinda like how English read left to right but its people read bolder/ bigger text before the smaller text .
