Designing stage/ Software designing-
The starting point of designing was creating my draft storyboard that will help me create my design ideas on the software, even though this is a draft I believe the the information on there I will 100% use in my software outcome and the layout will be helpful I’ve already explored ways of text to come in and sit.
The software I chosen to use for my outcome is After effects by adobe I did think about using preemie pro as I know how to use that software very well due to past education however my idea of using text and video wasn’t the best place to make the ideas on.
I began to start making my movement social material by creating text on after effects just layering them down making all have different layers as I want to make all the text move from different areas and stuff
, this was a simple step to do but also was a long process felt that it took forever to do as I wanted make sure the text was the right size and sat right places.
After adding all of the text on onto after effects and setting up the layouts I went one by one adding the movement to them texts so they can move into the screen or fade in, this gives the text more of a character and interesting to look at, this was another long process to take as I had roughly 80 layers to make move.
The process of making everything move was very annoying at times as things would have to be changed around due texts sizes or going somewhere else on the screen, the tools I used for this was the position keyframes and opacity settings.
Once most of the layers of text had been set and made to move I went on to creating some fireworks on the software by creating composition page so I can create them without the text, the setting to creates theses were make new layer- solid go to effects and click on simulation – cc particles 2.
soon as this up I had to change the setting of the particles to fly up like a firework I also always changed the time of it the end results look theses below.
The next stage I went on to create after setting up and putting my fireworks into the right layout within my work was filming the video for my background of sparklers moving that I could link it to text moving, this was a big part of of my advert as it helped the video from being basic typography on a basic screen moving.
filming the sparklers with camera didn’t take long I did try using another person to move their hand with the sparkler but I wasn’t getting the best result so I ended up using my own hand and moving area my camera lens it was a risky challenge to do as I didn’t want my camera to messed up but it also turned out so good and nothing happened to me or the camera, the footage I got from doing the 10 minute filming session outside in the cold at night was amazing as the footage was better then I trgvought it would be.
Uploading the footage onto after effect was so simple in my eyes as I’ve done it before for old projects however when I started to add the video to the text that was already made I came across a problem the text was flying in so fast it was easy to read and when the videos were loaded they were 45 seconds long but my length on my screen was saying 52f’s, turns out that I was making my video in frames and not seconds so I had to spend sometime making me setting right and changing the length of text.
Soon as I fixed this problem everything started to look better and was actually using the right amount of time to come in, I cut down the videos I had to suit around the text I cut them down on another page so I could see without accidentally deleting something off my real outcome work.
Even after adding the background video you would think I would nearly done, nope I spent many hours of going back and change the text layouts and sizes as I felt like they didn’t suit much, after doing all this I went on to drawing my own designs of fireworks as my opening part of the video is fireworks taking off and blowing up so I went in to illustrator to draw them.
I went on to create a couple of different fireworks trying out the different colours looks and even using the fading onto the firework, I found this very fun to do as it took me alway from looking after effect so much, after I create my final firework that I liked the most I went along and put it into after effects where I went on to make it move across my page and fade out into a firework that i designed from before, this may not look the best out come but I wanted my video to have a mixture of text images and hand drawn images .
adding the firework rockets onto aftereffects was simple but trying to make my the fireworks to move and go into the fireworks I made was not the easiest thing ever it took a lot of playing and room with setting and moving them around , here is a photo of what they look like and with the fireworks going off.
Once I say the outcomes on the fireworks I knew I need to add another Hand drawn design to an area of the video and this was my ending where my video says what the movement called, I wanted to create a log that would appear in the top concern somewhere this make the movement seem more real if they had a small logo.
The logo I went on to was going have to show something that means no fireworks in a small simple design, soon as I got on to illustrator I found my design of fireworks from earlier so I went and copied one of them onto a new layer changed the position and colour and adding a circle plus a red line onto, here is the outcome.
I did try another colour for the firework of just being black but when importing it into aftereffect it was showing on to of the back ground.
Even though it’s very simple idea I think it works very well to get the idea of the movement across through the logo and the colours I picked of red and black do represent danger so adding them onto the design it helps warn people and trying to get rid of them.
After making sure they fit in I felt that my project was nearly completed until I played the video through a couple of time I spotted that hadn’t got any voice over, music on top of the advert so I went off to see if there was any places online I would get some music to use as I didn’t want to have a voice over and I didn’t think having firework sound effects playing for the whole thing would make it fun.
While looking on youtube for copyright free music and on different royalty free website I nearly gave up as I couldn’t find nothing that suited the video much, as I didn’t want anything too happy as my video is a serious issues really not funny and my format is very formal with information, I came along a website called https://filmstro.com/music/timelapse
it had loads of different music for different video it had loads of different themes and such as moods, the genre of video what instruments you wanted there was loads opinions , I found the best theme that I looked at was called time lapse and slow mon, I download two free royalty free music and tried of them on my video.
However the music kept messing up on the software so I had to export my video to try it out as a draft to hear what the music sounded like. The draft came out better then I thought it would as there was no mistakes in the sound butt there was mistake in spelling such in the word of “usage”.
I took the video back into after effects where I change the spelling mistake and I also made sure the the fonts were all the same without the advert. After checking everything was done right I went on and exported my final outcome to hand in .
