punk – constellation.

1st of November 2018 – term 1 constellation

Constellation class was all on the 70’s punks and looking at ways to set up ready the information I need to show in my end of term case study, all the lessons in this term of constellation are very interesting to learn about the different subculture and using the information on them to prepare how to point of something in an image then anyelse it and find some theory to back it up this could paraphrase text or quoting it all.

A main skill that I’m learning constellation is paraphrasing I find this very helpful to understand text in simple words it’s a faster way to read stuff so I will be using this skill a lot more in my life below is some of my paraphrasing from today.

Paraphrasing characteristics style and reason on why they do it.

  • They would spit on everything even themselves anything that gross they would take on.
  • Everything had to have swearing on their clothes to show them defacing items (trashing)
  • Including items such as pins on clothing would help give it a punk look and using tampons and razors blades in the ears it was not a typical jewellery.
  • They believe that is something didn’t suit something they should wear it or use it
  • Anything that was dirty or run down would be used in their looks and destroy to get a more of a messy look and add their main elements of items on the clothing.
  • Chains would hang across chest – they were toilet chains they would steal them they wanted to change the idea of where jewellery should go or what should be jewellery
  • Safety pins were worn in ears, cheeks or lips to show pain they change the meaning of the safety as it seen as a household item to hold things tougher but they used as jewellery to change the idea of typical designs of ear piercings they wanted to design for piecring places.
  • Martials that used were cheap fabric, they wanted to look trashy they would use bin bags and anything that would look messy- they believed it good taste.
  • Make up was worn by men and women to get rid of the idea of it just for woman and they wanted to be bold they would go overboard to express what they believed in
  • Hair would be dyed – jet black, hay yellow, bright orange with green or bleached marks in har. They wanted unnatural looks
  • Jeans and t shirts would include many of zips on them
  • Uniform had white tops that ways included graffiti on or blood this could show violence Tie un down at all times as they wanted to trashy and have no care it.
  • They didn’t care about mixing items as they want to look messy and change the idea of normal wear.
  • They labelled items in areas for bondages the items were included stocking, stiletto heels rubber wears that people should hide and no one should wear out. The punks would wear to make a statement to show shock within the style and wanted people to look at them.

this is an example of my layouts that I use in constellation that’s a method to help get notes ready before writing a case study on the point evidence explain .

this set shows every detail I will need to keep

describe analyse Theory
Very bold dramatic make up The women wanted to bold make up and use this face as a canvas and not follow the typical norm for example they didn’t want to follow pretty lite make up glitters they wanted to use bold colours to show off. Punk was also a place where women felt free to express difference.

notes from lesson that I need to remember

  • not use big quotes paraphrase it down and add little quotes *
  • Can use some study not just books *
  • If you claim something but something being traditional back it up or else it will be an invalid statement. *
  • Can use more than one quote to back up research. *
