task one – create a flip book on a body movement by creating 15 or more flips pages.
I decide to make my flip book by using photography photos of the movement of one of my friends moving glasses off her head and holding it to the camera there was around 23 pages that I did.
task two – five tv shows/ films title sequences with movement reflect on the sounds, type, movement image and narrative .
Monsters inc – monster inc is a pixel film based for family and kids created in early 200o’s, the opening title sequence is around 1 minute and 20/30 seconds long within the space of the title sequence such things as ;
sound – musical instruments are played in the background but diegetic sounds of screams and doors opening are adding to areas to help build a story to the drawings.
images – illustrations of doors that are colour that move around the screen and eyes and monsters hands appear all this things link to the actual film this can help show a bit of the story off before the film starts, everything is bright and colourful in the designs this could be to catch people eyes or because it links to as kids film section so they want it be playful not dull or out of context as you wouldn’t use black in a kids show you would in horror as it links more to the content .
narrative – there’s no real story behind this other then small clips from the film added in it just a playful way to get people attention on screen before the film starts.
type – the type in title sequence is very playful as it movements and jumps on to the screen the designs are hand drawn looking and bold so people can see it easy on the screen .
Power (tv show) – power is an American tv show that was created in 2014 and is aired to this day, the opening sequence for the tv show is roughly around one minute 20 seconds.
images/ narrative- The images that are used are all black and white and to do with living in the city and gangs, this all links to the story of the tv show and the narrative.
type -the type that’s used within the title sequence is very basic and bold the typeface is a sans serif so meaning its bold and simple to be seen this could be because the director just wants the text to fast and easy to read within the short time.
movement-There’s a lot of movement in the title sequence with the images as they are mirror on both side of the screen by they are video films all them have a movement within, this is very fun to watch as the text just appears on the screen and sit theres for a bit while to clips move.
sound- In the title intro there’s a song playing throughout that links to the moving images on screen and even links to the show as the words talk about the “dark night” the show is based there, the music is rap/ hip hop this links to gangsters and show links that, the song that’s playing is called ‘big rich town’ by 50 cent.
Skins – The British tv show has got a very interesting short title sequence with a lot of movement with elements such as images and shapes on scree, the show was brought out in 2000’s time and had 6/7 seasons on sets of teenagers that lived in Bristol.
image giving the narrative -The images and video clips that are seen on the title sequence are all clips of the characters everyone has their own part and then as a group this can be the narrative (story) as it gives you a little view more on the character personality and what they do within the show by giving the viewers more an insight on the characters you get known them more.
sound- The same song is played in all the season title sequence but they change lightly each season something is changed like adding the beat more longer this can be to show the changes through the season I’m not sure.
text- the text for the title appears from the last video with a black background the text is a typical sans serif typeface but what’s interesting is the last video is the text now the text has been made an outline for the video to play with the letterforms.
movement-There’s a lot of movement in the title sequence from the video clips moving on the screen in different areas and effects adding on and shapes coming everything moves very fast .
The walking Dead -A interesting title sequence I thought about was The Walking Dead through the years theres been a new title sequence for the walking dead for each season, the show started in 2010 that’s filmed in America and theres 9 seasons so far.
Text – throughout the title sequence there’s small texts that comes on screen of directors and cast all theses names are medium size and bold they don’t take too much room up on the video clips however the words of “The Walking Dead” is big text that sits in the middle of the screen it thick bold texts its been designed specially for the show as it has blood details on it, small details like this make it more visually appealing to watch and it gives it more details on the show.
images/clips for narrative – the title sequence for the show is all video clips that have been film while on set or around to create a narrative set up of each season as each season has different story based locations the title sequence tries to set the viewers location up before watching it also helps gives the story more the feeling of the showing being in a lonely places and scared place this also showed in the colours that are used.
sound – In all 9 season on the title sequence the director as kept the same background music this now known as a leitmotif as the viewers can hear the sound before and sound pick it up as The Walking dead is on, this helps people identify the show fast, the sound also helps build the feel of the show as it fast and brings tension on the build for the show to begin.
Marvel – infinity war – Before any Marvel film starts there’s always a a Marvel small intro then the main film intro straight after in to the main title for the film or the film starts after Marvel one and the film name will appear in the first 10 minutes of the film.
image – the Marvel title sequence includes clips from all the marvel films that link up with all the characters theses all fade into each other and it turns to be the big text of the word marvel, the Infinity war title sequence doesn’t have any images really it sets between the open scene of the film theres the film clip then all of a sudden a black screen.
text – The text is 3D moving letters that stand out one the black screen and move with rotates into the next word or shows more detailed letterform of the that letter already.
sound – the Marvel background song is playing in both title intro’s
